A useful study order lets each topic support the next. This is a suggested learning sequence for our eight subjects, not a CASA-mandated order. Coordinate it with your instructor and practical training.
Build from aircraft basics to planning
Begin with Aerodynamics and General Aeronautical Knowledge to understand the aircraft. Add Human Factors to understand the pilot. Study Flight Radio and Air Law early enough to support your lessons, then work through Meteorology, Air Navigation, and Air Operations Performance and Planning.
Revisit connected topics
Navigation depends on wind and weather, while performance depends on the aircraft, loading and conditions. Return to earlier material as these links become clearer. The Australian aeroplane PPL theory examination brings the principal knowledge areas together in one examination; Flight Radio receives its own focused course subject.
